Therapist website design
Here at pivotal-flow we focus on creating custom websites for counsellors and therapists, in this blog we will go over the key themes your website should have, ideas for what your website could look like and how to get started.
Must have elements
Pages we recommend you starting with are
- Home page
- Start with a clear header at the top of the page which clearly tells your clients who you are and what you specialise in.
- List through your services in a simple and easy to understand manner.
- Show testimonials from previous clients, this helps build trust.
- Include an faq section of the questions you get asked the most.
- Add a call to action banner inviting the user to book a call with you.
- About page
- This is where you want to shine, include a nice well proportioned image of yourself and a great bio.
- Include images or certificates of your education and qualification
- Include a section about client information, where it gets stored and clear about how it is used.
- Services
- This is where you want to show your services in greater detail. List out your services in a clear and easily understandable way. Make sure to include information about exactly each service includes and think about how they differ from one and another.
- Contact
- At the top of this page, write what the client would expect once they have sent you and email or booked a call with you.
- Include a contact form and a book a call system.
At most you want your client to get in touch with you after 3 clicks, here is an example of what that flow might look like.
- Click from Google to your website
- Click from your home page to services
- Click from services to contact page
Remember in most cases simple is better when it comes to websites.
Website design
It can be hard not knowing what colours or fonts you would need to use. This is where a brand book (A book with all the colours, fonts and shapes that you should use for your brand) comes in handy but if you haven’t got one of those we have included some colour pallets and font pairings to get you started.
Pick the ones that relate to you the most.
You can copy over the color hex codes into your website settings. You should be able to choose a font from a drop down, all of these font pairings are on Google fonts which are free and you should be able to link them to your website.
Building your website
If you are going to build a website on your own we recommend you find a template you like and start from there. Keep in mind that each page should have call to actions (sections that convince your users to take an action). This could be a link to another page, a form or a popup. Remember you want your client to get in touch with you within 3 clicks or less. We have written a full blog on how to make a therapist website, we recommend checking that out if you want to DIY your website.
